Greece debt bailout: EU leaders split over euro crisis | Mail Online

The European single currency is facing an ‘inevitable break-up’ a leading French bank claimed yesterday.

Strategists at Paris-based Société Générale said that any bailout of the stricken Greek economy would only provide ‘sticking plasters’ to cover the deep- seated flaws in the eurozone bloc.

The stark warning came as the euro slipped further on the currency markets and dire growth figures raised the prospect of a ‘double-dip’ recession in the embattled zone.

Trial lawyers to Obama: Don’t deal on tort reform in health talks – TheHill.com

President Barack Obama wants a bipartisan deal on health reform, but trial lawyers don’t want him to deal on a top Republican priority: tort reform.

Trial lawyers defeated President George W. Bush’s push for medical liability reform and successfully lobbied to water down tort reform provisions in healthcare reform bills this Congress. But the battle is far from over.

Progressives and the growing dependency agenda – George Will

Only two things are infinite — the expanding universe and Democrats’ hostility to the District of Columbia’s school choice program. Killing this small program, which benefits 1,300 mostly poor and minority children, is odious and indicative. It is a small piece of something large — the Democrats’ dependency agenda, which aims to multiply the ways Americans are dependent on government.

Status of Obama’s PLA Order

CNSNews did a story today giving an update on Obama’s Executive Order number 13502 requiring all federal construction projects to operate under Project Labor Agreements (PLAs). Thus far the EO has been stymied by the commission that Obama set up to handle the initiative.

A PLA is a contract agreement that would force union rules, union dues, and union control of any construction project that the federal government undertakes. The PLA rules would even descend upon any non-union labor hired for the work meaning that employees would be forced to pay dues even if they do not belong to a union.

This PLA requirement is only another Obama payoff to unions and the construction industry says that PLAs will make any federal project go over budget, take longer to complete making the projects needlessly expensive.

CNSNews reports that the commission has yet to act on the EO.

However, the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council (FAR), which is charged with final enactment of the rule, is still reviewing the matter. The FAR Council is made up of members from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Department of Defense, the General Services Administration and NASA.

Naturally, in keeping with this Administration, one part of the EO is built entirely on an untrue premise.

Obama and Liberals Must Be Stopped In the November Elections or Our Country Will NOT Survive

This is an excerpt from a Rasmussen (Poll) Report on Feb. 13, 2010:

“Republicans received some modestly good news this past week. In a three-way congressional contest with a Tea Party candidate on the ballot, the GOP candidate now comes in second, with the Tea Party choice in third. In early December, the Tea Party candidate came in second, while the Republican finished third. Of course, the Democrat won both times.”

When I discussed this with a Democrat friend he admitted that they are rooting for the Tea Party candidates to enter all the elections as it would guarantee a victory for them by taking away enough of the votes cast to deprive either the Republicans or the Tea Party Candidates a victory.

I believe that we the voters have got to spread this information far and wide if we want to rid ourselves of the oppressive and non-responsive liberals from congressional offices.  Don’t forget, there will also be Libertarians and other fringe candidates stealing votes away that will also help the liberals.

There is only one reasonable way to handle this sort of situation so as to insure that a Tea Party candidate does not split the conservative vote thus guaranteeing a victory for the anti-American liberals who are caught up in the zeal to kill our Constitution, our way of life, and our freedom.

Peevish China recalls panda Tai Shan due to Obama’s meeting with the Dalai Lama – Times Online

He IS with Panda...

When China requested the return of a giant panda from the National Zoo in Washington, it was thought this was because the pandas back home were not producing enough babies.

But the departure of Tai Shan last week now seems to signify an end to the era of “panda diplomacy” — which dates back to 1972 after President Richard Nixon’s historic visit to China.

President Barack Obama’s decision to meet the Dalai Lama this week has infuriated the Chinese at a time when the US desperately wants their support for sanctions against Iran and its nuclear programme. The Chinese government called on Obama to cancel the meeting with the Tibetan spiritual leader, which comes as relations between the world’s first and third-biggest economies have deteriorated sharply.

Ma Zhaoxu, China’s foreign ministry spokesman, said there had been “stern” exchanges with the US on the matter.

How To Be A Good Liberal

How To Be A Good Liberal.

1. You have to believe that people that run businesses are evil, but people that head government departments are good. Businessmen do not care about their customers, but government bureaucrats have people’s best interest at heart.

2. You have to believe, despite all historical evidence, that some how, some way, this time government will do things right.

3. You have to believe that giving government more and greater power will not necessarily mean less liberty for people.

4. You have to believe that liberty is only important when you are at home, not when you are at work. (And believe that once you give government all economic power, they won’t also come into your private life.)

5. You have to believe that all killing is wrong in war, but killing unborn children is nobody’s business but the “mother”.

6. You have to believe that taking money from Paul and giving it to Peter is “social justice” and not simple theft.

7. You have to believe that taking money from productive parts of the economy and giving it to unproductive sectors will do anything but destroy the whole.

Liberals must believe that the economic, scientific, medical and social advancements over the last two hundred years came about by accident. That the huge leap over this short time had nothing to do with a new concept being unleashed upon the world: free men and free minds in free markets created more wealth and happiness than all the governments and political philosophers in all of history. Our revolution and the chains it put on government let loose the creative power of man and changed the world. It is the liberal counter-revolutionary forces that want to end that and take us back into the nightmare of a government command and control economy. Governments are only good at two things: filling prisons and killing people.

Scientist admits there has been no global warming since 1995

Why Al Gore Eats at Arbys

The global warming movement is facing a one-two punch today, as a key figure of the Climategate scandal admitted that there is no evidence the earth has warmed recently and new research suggests existing records aren’t sufficient support for global warming claims.

Phil Jones, who stepped down from his position at the Climatic Research Unit after emails surfaced showing the unit apparently conspiring to manipulate climate data, also said global warming may not be unprecedented after all.

FDA Requests $4.03 Billion to Transform Food Safety System, Invest in Medical Product Safety, Regulatory Science

FDA Requests $4.03 Billion to Transform Food Safety System, Invest in Medical Product Safety, Regulatory Science.

FDA Requests $4.03 Billion to Transform Food Safety System, Invest in Medical Product Safety, Regulatory Science
FY 2011 request represents a 23 percent increase over FY 2010 budget

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is requesting $4.03 billion to promote and protect public health as part of the President’s fiscal year 2011 budget – a 23 percent increase over the agency’s current $3.28 billion budget.

The FY 2011 request, which covers the period of Oct.1, 2010, through Sept. 30, 2011, includes increases of $146 million in budget authority and $601 million in industry user fees.

“The FY 2011 resources will strengthen our ability to act as a strong and smart regulator, protecting Americans through every stage of life, many times each day,” said FDA Commissioner Margaret A. Hamburg, M.D. “This budget supports the ability for patients and families to realize the benefits of science that are yielding revolutionary advances in the life and biomedical sciences.”

The budget request reflects the FDA’s resolve to transform food safety practices, improve medical product safety, protect patients and modernize FDA regulatory science to advance public health. Funding in the FY 2011 request also supports new regulatory authority to regulate cigarettes and other tobacco products received in June 2009.

The proposed budget includes support for the FDA’s investment in addressing the challenges of the 21st century. The FDA envisions a transformed U.S. food safety system that focuses on prevention, increased efforts to address medical product safety challenges and a focus on modernizing regulatory science at the FDA.

These four initiatives are the major highlights for the FY2011 budget increases.

  • Transforming Food Safety (+ $318.3 million)
The Transforming Food Safety Initiative reflects President Obama’s vision of a new food safety system to protect the American public. The FDA will set standards for safety, expand laboratory capacity, pilot track and trace technology, strengthen its import safety program, improve data collection and risk analysis and begin to establish an integrated national food safety system with strengthened inspection and response capacity.
  • Protecting Patients (+ $100.8 million)
The Protecting Patients Initiative advances the Obama Administration’s priorities for safe, quality health care for all Americans. The resources in this initiative will support the safety of drugs, devices, and vaccines, as well as the Nation’s blood supply. The FY 2011 resources will also strengthen the FDA’s ability to act as a strong and smart regulator to address medical product safety challenges in the years ahead.
  • Advancing Regulatory Science (+ $25.0 million)
Advancing Regulatory Science builds on President Obama’s commitment to harness the power of science for America’s benefit. During the past two decades, extraordinary investments have led to revolutionary advances in the life and biomedical sciences. Many key discoveries, however, have yet to translate into real therapies for patients. The FY 2011 budget will allow the FDA to begin to strengthen its core scientific capacity. This investment will allow the  FDA to identify improved pathways to product development and approval for new technologies that offer promising new opportunities to diagnose, treat, cure and prevent disease.
  • Tobacco (+ $215.0 million)
An increase in tobacco user fees will allow the FDA to continue to implement the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. Preventing youth from using tobacco and helping Americans quit, promoting public understanding of the harmful constituents of tobacco products, developing the foundation of science for regulating tobacco, and regulating tobacco to reduce the toll of tobacco-related disease, disability and mortality are tobacco program priorities for FY 2011.
